3 parts buddy

1 part of each the river sand - the vermiculite and the small tree bark chips (one part of each)(3 parts)

and because its good drainage soil just give it some water mix nutrients once every 4-6 weeks for feed
My plants LOVE THIS MIXTURE - AND I DONT GET ROOT ROT at all cause it does not hold water that long
If your PH DROPS place a table spoon of LIME over the TOP SOIL and if your PH is HIGH just mix (EPSOM SALT - SULFATE OF MAGNESIUM) (3tablespoons) to 2Liters of water this will drop the PH.
Please tests this and u will see - Let me know on what u think of my mixture :?:

Merry meet and merry part !

Sorry for the newbie question, but what is there an alternative for vermiculite?

Perlite works great but it tents to float to the top of the soil if its to loose or if you overload the soil with perlite.
once you load the flower pot with soil/perlite mix, add a top layer without the perlite and you should be good.
