I just watched this on youtube... It's amazing how a plant can propagate from just a leaf.

Very interesting and good to know that this plant can do that. I wonder if viridis is the same way.
Anything that I post is fictional and is purely part of my imagination. Do not attempt any of the activities described above.

yes indeed they are. As far as i know all psychotria plants are rootable via leaf.
Not only do they root well but they grow a lot more than one plant per leaf.

Trippin balls man, a rat just chewed my P.Alba in half! Good thing psyhotria's are tough! I'm going to root them now.
Funny how i had a dream last night that i was propagating this plant via leaf cuttings and this happened.
And you even posted a video about this. :o

What is the soil medium you are using SF?

Also, when you zoomed in on the little leafs as you began to talk about them I notice a little winged buggy walking around among the leaves. Are they causing you any grief?
Life is short and you only get one. It is yours so use it selfishly. Find your true path and follow it. Be true to your own convictions. And love each other.

I was rooting those in some really bad soil. You can root them in just a glass of water or a jar. Works like a charm.
In fact i would rather root them in a glass jar with a lid. just make sure you poke a few holes in the lid so that they can get some fresh air.

The lid helps to keep the humidity up and the jar normally stays about as cool as the room temp or cooler even. These leaves seem to root better in a cooler area but not cold.

good luck.

I remember when i bought my first leaves from greenmansgarden way back in late '09. He shipped them in some damp moss and when they arrive here(3weeks). It already has 4 sprouts coming up when i opened the packaging. This is really an amazing plant. I would recommend this species to anyone who's new to gardening just because of it's hardiness!

@rocketman
I saw a bug too :lol: I wouldn't be too worried about bugs in the soil if this is the plant you are growing.

@SF
From my experience when the sprouts are already producing true leaves, they should be acclimated to normal weather. Mine didn't like it when i left her in a humidity dome.
Didn't grow as fast and produced pale leaves.

Update on my Chacruna plant that got chewed in half by a rat.
The top half with the leaves are still in the rooting phase.
The bottom half(no leaves) is starting to grow leaves at the sides after one week!
This plant is sexy :D

WOW! I never knew they could root from leaf like that. What a wonderful characteristic for those growing it intentionally; and horrible for those trying to eradicate it from their yard. :lol:

Thanks for the vid. This has me wanting to grow some just for the fun of watching leaves root!

When you say, root them in a glass jar with a lid; does that jar contain water?

I wonder if these have a really strong rooting hormone like pussy willow. Perhaps they could be added to water to help other cuttings root.
