Is this spider a friend or foe?

Postby Xeraphim » Sat Jul 23, 2011 2:11 pm

I took a few pictures of a little guy I found on my plant. I happened to see two, possibly three of them crawling around and on my plant. Was just curious, is this spider a friend or foe? Basically, I'm asking if i should get rid of them, or leave them alone to potentially take care of whiteflies or mites or whatever else that might actually do damage to the plant. Thanks!

Also, any information at all on this species would interest me if you have any.

did you try to look up spiders in you area? that being said, to me it does not look like a pest spider per-say but i am no expert. i would do a search of house spiders if your growing inside and general search of spiders in your area. dont know if this helps you but it might get you on the right track!
i suck at spelling!

Spiders are our friends. No self-respecting spider would be caught dead munching on your salvia plant. Spiders are carnivores. They don't eat plants. They eat insects.
Life is short and you only get one. It is yours so use it selfishly. Find your true path and follow it. Be true to your own convictions. And love each other.

I've never heard of a pesky spider. They will protect your plants (although they might eat the pollinators, too!).
