Salvia as a 1st Psychonautic experience.

Hey there! :D

Straight forward question looking for a straight forward answer: Is it a good choice to start my <<spiritual path>> as a <<psychonaut>> with Salvia Divinorum?
Or should I start with other stuff, maybe "softer" plants/shrooms, and save this amazing plant for later on, when I am more experienced?

Circumstances: So far, the only psychedelic drug I've ever consumed is Marihuana, and as I've kinda get used to it, I'd like to try something new that provides me with a deeper, more intense experience...but I also want to make sure that I'm not jumping any steps on my path or going too fast, in order to be able to make the most out of it and save me any unecessary bad trips.

This week, a friend and I have been doing our research on the net, searching for the right new substance, and when we learned about Salvia, it kinda felt as a very interesting choice, the optimal choice.
We specially found it cool that the effects lasted so little ( 5-10 minutes when smoked), plus its cheap and widely available for online purchase. But we've also found that a lot of people says that Salvia is very <<serious>> material, that it has to be handled wisely and intelligently, or otherwise, it can turn out to be a very fucked up experience.

What are your thoughts on all of this?
Would you reccomend us any other alternative plants/ shrooms/ substances to start with?
Do you think it's okay to start with Salvia? If so, would you please give us any reccomendations on how to consume it safely and make the most out of the experience?

Thanks so much in advance!!

P.S.: I'm so glad I've found this online community, big up from somewhere in the Iberian Peninsula!
