I did something stupid to my plants.

Postby swatch » Thu Feb 02, 2012 12:33 pm

I can't believe what I did, and I'm sure they're all going to die because of my stupidity.

First, the backstory:

I have been going through the beginner trials and tribulations of learning how to grow and care for my salvia plants. At my peak, I had 8 of them, then four died off due to environmental issues as I was learning. Once I got the humidity tent going, and learned the valuable lesson to not overwater and drown them, things were going GREAT. I had 4 beautifully growing, thriving plants. I had just transplanted them into bigger pots and everything was going great. We had a relationship together. I would greet and talk with them every morning, and every evening.

Then I did something stupid. I was at a hydroponic shop to get some natural bug killer spray, which works great, by the way (Don't Bug Me is the name of the product). I've been using it on my salvia plants, and my other plants (tea, and cannabis). Well, I saw this bag of fertilizer called "Marine Cuisine Time Release Fertilizer". I read the bag at the store, and it mentioned it had all kinds of crushed sea life and also bat guano, and I remembered reading something about that being a great food for our plants. So, I decided to buy it. I read the instructions and used the exact amount per plant. Apparently this stuff is a killer, or I just don't know what I'm doing, but within 3 days, my plants had lost almost all of their leaves, including my tea plants. The cannabis plants are still going strong, however. I quickly transplanted all of my plants into brand new soil, and I'm hoping for the best, but they do not look good at all. From experience on my previous 4 plants that died on me, it seems like once they lose a certain percentage of their leaves, they are going to die, and there is nothing you can do about it. I'm so bummed about this. If I were smarter I would have tested it out on ONE of my plants, not put it on ALL OF THEM at once. I'm such an idiot. I feel just horrible that I've killed them. The only thing I can do now is wait to see if they recover. My guess is that the fertilizer contained too much acid or something, and it just killed them. All that's left are stems and like 1 leaf on each plant, but the leaf is totally wilted, and will probably fall off in the next day.

I'm sorry for the negative energy on posting this to the forum, but I just had to tell someone, and I figured this was the best place to do so.

Thanks for letting me vent.

Brian I PM'd you.

NotHim, how are you doing? I understand things are a bit dodgy in the Old Country, government-wise. I hope you're weathering the storm, buddy.

Only one stem remains green. I might be able to keep this one going. I hope to see some new leaf sprouts show up in the next couple of days.
GOD I feel so stupid for what I did!

I'm keeping the other pots just in case they reanimate magically. You guys mentioned before that happens, but I have yet to see it. Maybe I'll get lucky this time.

No pictures. I'm embarrassed enough!

try to keep some nodes green(at least 2), if any of your methods do not show alright, and the wilt is spreading on and off , just save at least 2 nodes with a green stem between them , no matter what and leave the stem on the soil horizontaly and sprinkle some soil on it , mist , add a humidity transparent device and use a lamp with white light (20 cm from the stem , at least), no direct sunlight when natural light(use a shade) , keep the temp at 20 celsius

lol, jim i am cool as ice ---- temp here is cool too , too cool
regarding the big business, what to say ---much ado about nothing!
i sensed the crap from years ago, and deconnected ! -i learned how to live not depending on money too much , as a hunter -gatherer - did not hunt too much lately cause ...man , the sea is concrete (concrete translated as the ciment you use on buildings), so no f living thing is around ---they all left(flee) for states where is warmer and dogs walk with pretzels on their tails (expresion -for a better situation), none the less i still got some saving from last summer which include: some prawns, nettle, some crabs, some snails, some oysters or shells , got plenty of jam , in fact all the oldschool kitcken is stuffed with all sorts of jams -i got plum jam or wildplum jam, the quince jam turned awesome man, it is like a special dessert-did not expect to guess it right but id did , got a jam that is more like a candy (it is hard{dense} like a brick ) cause of the high pectin level--it is made from hawthorn(good for heart though after you came back after a scared trip and your heart is scared to death too) , and the specialty for these days when a high level of vitamin c is needed due to low temp is wax cherry jam (marmalade), hiprose jam and ofcourse the teas --here is a whole arsenal of teas and teas mixtures and specimens(exotic, scary, dreamy, energetic, tasty, sleepy, relaxing, laxative, and chill teas , spicy...lol, i got them all, you name it) - i learned how to make my own bread during these troubled days(not goverment parade , plays and shit but weather, weather is the kille') --- not such a big deal , you just whack some ingredients in a bucket and mix , let to rise for a couple of hours(got to be patient for that otherwise you end up with a brick not a bread---it happend a couple of times til i learned my lesson) and bake it . -----ok , so that being said , i am covered for some time -by the way , the whole country is covered by snow , and frost with minus 30 and the stores are on zero , nothing to buy but a few porn magazines and some toilet paper , the lorries did not supply them for a month cause of the huge snow , man, there are people with their houses burried 5 meters in the ground (snow)---it is pretty intense......to be continued---

here 's a free sample from a -25 celsius storm 2 days ago

Thanks for the advice, nothim. I will check the other nodes and see if there are any green left and do the horizontal mambo with them and hope for the best!

I appreciate it.

Have a great weekend.
